Trinity College, Dublin

Trinity College is ’s foremost higher level educational institution and also its oldest, dating back to 1592. Located in the centre of Dublin , just across from the former Irish Parliament building (now the Bank of Ireland), it is high on the list of tourist sites to visit. One of the main attractions is the Book of Kells, ’s national treasure- a feat of calligraphy and intricate design of the four gospels of the New Testament in Latin. Despite its immense popularity with tourists Trinity College of course remains an educational institution. Interestingly first year students at the undergraduate level are called Junior Freshmen; second years, Senior Freshmen; third years, Junior Sophisters; and fourth years, Senior Sophisters.
