Temple Bar pub, Dublin

Cross over the Ha’penny Bridge from the North Side of the Liffey and suddenly you’re in the Temple Bar area of
Dublin
. Unlike the areas surrounding it, Temple Bar has preserved its medieval street pattern, with many narrow cobbled streets. As it was an unpopular area of the city during the mid 1900s, the medieval Temple Bar was spared the major reurbanisation projects which involved the demolishing of much of the historical centre. In the 90’s, after largely being ignored by the populace, artists moved in because of low rents. Small shops, galleries and cafes started popping up. The area became a cultural point of interest in the city and has transformed into the burgeoning nightlife spot of the city.
