River Liffey
River Liffey

The Liffey (An Life in Irish) flows through the centre of Dublin, Ireland. This fast moving river originates in the Wicklow Mountains, and flows for about 125 km through counties Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin before running into the Irish Sea at the mouth of the Dublin Bay delta. The river is used to generate hydroelectric power at three stations along its banks. The Liffey has historical significance for Dublin in terms of trade, Viking attacks and today simply being an attractive central focal point for the city. Today there are plenty of tours going up and down the river which make for a pleasant excursion. There is a boardwalk where you can pick up a boat at the Ha’penny Bridge.
