Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle

There are many parts of the castle that are worth visiting. The oldest part of the large and beautiful Dublin Castle is the Norman Tower which dates back to 1226. This is now the site of the Garda Museum. The Chester Beatty Library is an award winning gallery and has a pleasant café, the Silk Road Café, which is the perfect place to get some refreshment.  Dubhlinn Gardens is currently a well manicured garden, but was formerly the site of a dark pool, dubh linn in Irish, and is the origin of the name of the city. The coach house serves as an entertaining venue and exhibition area. There is also a chapel which was built in 1814 which was formerly for the Irish royalty. In the Treasury building you can find the castle gift shop and Vaults restaurant.
